Kenmore Appliance Repair in San Diego
Here's the thing about Kenmore that most shops won't tell you: Kenmore never built a single appliance. It was Sears' house badge, bolted onto machines made by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, Samsung, and others — and the model-number prefix is what reveals which one. With Sears gone, a lot of San Diego homeowners get told their Kenmore is an orphan that can't be fixed. It almost always can. We read the prefix first, identify the real manufacturer, and source genuine OEM parts through that maker's channel — not the dead Sears catalog. Same-day Kenmore repair on refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, and dishwashers, flat $80 diagnostic applied to the work.

Meet the team behind every repair.

Why a Kenmore is easier to fix than people think.
Kenmore was a sourcing brand, not a factory. For decades Sears bought appliances from the major makers and put the Kenmore name on them, so the unit in your kitchen is really a Whirlpool, an LG, a Frigidaire, a Samsung, or a GE wearing a different badge. The model number gives it away: the first three digits are a manufacturer code. Read them and the whole repair stops being a mystery.
Once we know who built it, a Kenmore is a standard repair on standard parts. A 110- or 106-prefix machine is a Whirlpool and takes Whirlpool parts; a 795 Kenmore Elite refrigerator is an LG; a 253 or 417 is a Frigidaire; a 592 is often a Samsung; a 363 is frequently a GE. We diagnose it as that machine — the fault patterns, the codes, and the parts all follow the real maker, not the Kenmore label.
The hard part since Sears collapsed is sourcing. Sears Parts Direct shrank and the in-store support vanished, which is why so many Kenmore owners hear "can't get parts, just replace it." We get the parts through the underlying manufacturer's authorized channel instead, so an orphaned Kenmore refrigerator, washer, dryer, range, freezer, or dishwasher usually gets the same repair it would have under a current brand name.
We've kept Kenmore units running in La Mesa, Clairemont, Poway, and across San Diego County since 2019 — and every repair carries our 90-day parts-and-labor guarantee. Even on a 20-year-old Kenmore, we'll lay out the fault and the cost plainly so you know exactly what the repair involves.

Every Kenmore, whoever really built it.
Refrigerators
Kenmore and Kenmore Elite — many are LG-built (795) or Whirlpool. Not-cooling, ice-maker faults, and the defrost and fan problems behind a warm box.
Washers
Kenmore and Pro HE, top- and front-load — usually Whirlpool (110/106) or LG (795). Won't-drain, won't-spin, bearing rumble, and the lid- or door-lock faults.
Dryers
Electric and gas, mostly Whirlpool- or LG-built. No-heat elements and igniters, plus the blocked vent that hides behind most long-dry complaints.
Ranges & Ovens
Gas and electric Kenmore ranges, often Frigidaire (253) or GE (363). Bake and broil elements, igniters, oven sensors, and the control faults that leave one cold.
Dishwashers
Built-in Kenmore and Elite dishwashers, typically on a Whirlpool or LG platform. Won't-drain, won't-clean, and the hard-water scaling that clogs the spray arms.
What commonly fails on a Kenmore?
| What goes wrong | Likely cause & the fix |
|---|---|
| Kenmore Elite Refrigerator Not Cooling | The Elite line leaned heavily on LG-built (795-prefix) refrigerators, and a warm Elite usually traces to the same places an LG would — a stalled evaporator fan, a defrost fault, or, on the linear-compressor models, the sealed system. We confirm the prefix, test the defrost and fan circuit, and check the compressor before quoting; if it's a 795, the underlying machine is on our <a href="/brands/lg">LG</a> page. |
| Kenmore Washer Won't Drain or Spin | Most Kenmore washers are Whirlpool (110/106) or LG (795) underneath, so a no-drain is the familiar clogged pump filter or failing drain pump, and a no-spin is a balance fault, a worn lid- or door-lock, or tired suspension. We identify the maker, then fix it as that washer with the matching OEM part. |
| Pro HE Washer Bearing Rumble | A loud, growing rumble on spin from a Kenmore Pro or Elite HE washer is usually a failing tub bearing — a real repair, not a quick part, and one we price transparently in writing. We tear down far enough to confirm it's the bearing and not a stray object or a worn shock before we quote the job. |
| Range Burner or Oven Won't Heat | Kenmore ranges are commonly Frigidaire (253) or GE (363). An electric element that stays cold is the element or switch; a gas burner that clicks but won't light is the igniter; a no-heat oven is the bake element or sensor. We read the prefix, pull the right OEM part, and replace just the one at fault. |
| "Can't Get Parts — Just Replace It" | The most common reason a Kenmore gets written off isn't a hard fault — it's a shop that doesn't know where the parts come from now that Sears is gone. Nine times out of ten the part exists under the real manufacturer's number. We track it down through that maker's authorized channel and quote you the actual repair. |
| Kenmore Dishwasher Won't Drain or Clean | Kenmore and Elite dishwashers sit on Whirlpool or LG platforms, so standing water or filmy dishes point to the drain pump, the chopper, or a filter and spray arms scaled up by San Diego's hard water. We identify the build, clear or replace the cause, and run a full cycle to confirm. |
The code depends on who built it.
Kenmore has no error-code system of its own — the fault codes belong to whoever made the machine, and the model-number prefix tells you which. That prefix is the first thing we read; here's what the common ones mean.
Prefix 110 / 106 — Whirlpool
A model number starting 110 or 106 is Whirlpool-built, so the laundry F-codes (long-drain, unbalance) and the fridge defrost/fan faults all follow Whirlpool's scheme. We read it against Whirlpool service data — the underlying machine is on our Whirlpool page.
Prefix 795 — LG (Kenmore Elite)
795 marks an LG build, common on Kenmore Elite refrigerators and front-load washers — which means LG's code set and the linear-compressor and not-cooling patterns apply. We diagnose it as an LG and check any sealed-system warranty before quoting.
Prefix 253 / 363 / 592 — Frigidaire, GE, Samsung
253 (and 417) is Frigidaire, 363 is often GE, and 592 is frequently Samsung. Each carries its maker's codes — once we read the prefix, the diagnosis follows that brand, not the Kenmore label.
How we work on a Kenmore.

Four steps to a working Kenmore.
Call with the full model number
The model number matters more on a Kenmore than any other brand — the prefix tells us who built it. Read it off the tag and call (858) 788-1552 or book online; reach us early and we can often make it the same day.
$80 diagnostic, real maker identified
We decode the prefix, diagnose the machine as what it actually is, and source the OEM part. You get a written quote before any work, and the $80 applies to the repair.
Same-day repair when the part's on hand
Because most Kenmores are Whirlpool, LG, or Frigidaire inside, the common parts are already on the truck — so once we've identified yours, most repairs finish the first visit.
90-day guarantee
Parts and labor are backed 90 days. If the same fault returns, we come back at no charge — once a Kenmore is fixed as the machine it really is, with the right OEM part, it holds.
